I found this book to be a really compelling read. From the beginning I related to Natty and everything she felt. The book focuses on so many important themes, and it was really interesting to think about how the young men who returned from the war might be coping, or not coping. I really liked how the impact of the recent past (the war) and the hopes for the future (standing up for the rights of children, women's suffrage) were woven together so well. It felt like an insight into a really important window of time. Overall this was a fascinating and page turning read, a really excellent piece of historical fiction that I would recommend to anyone age 10+
