Books about kindness

The world needs kind and empathetic people, and one of the best ways we can help make this happen is by raising our children with kindness and teaching them about how important it is to be considerate, gentle and loving to those around us. And, as always, books are one of the most powerful tools to get this message across in a fun and interesting way. Here are a few of our favourite picture books that focus on kindness:

Have You Filled A Bucket Today? by Carol McCloud: This book teaches children how our actions can positively or negatively impact those around us, and how, by being kind, we help fill someone else’s bucket.

Last Stop On Market Street by Matt De La Pena: A beautiful reminder for children to be kind and open hearted to everyone.

You, Me and Empathy by Jayneen Saunders: This story emphasizes cultural diversity raises lots of discussion questions to help kids understand about compassion and tolerance.

Kindness Makes Us Strong by Sophie Beer: A perfect introduction for younger readers.

Kindness Grows by Britta Teckentrup: A beautifully-illustrated book with cut-outs that will inspire little ones to plant seeds of kindness.

Be Kind by Pat Ziertlow Miller: This beautiful book asks, what does it really mean to be kind?
